Winter Break

Hello Families,

Here is a great website for multiplication facts.  http://multiplication.com/basics/teach1.htm .  The students are using these facts in most of our math so it is suggested that they use flashcards and learn the facts.  Test them and see how quickly they can get the answer.  This is the point of practicing facts.  Now is a great time to start practicing as they have 2 weeks with no school.

Good luck!

Homework for the Week of October 24th

Hello Families,

October 24th starts a week of MUTA testing for your child.  Please make sure they are bringing home their vocabulary notebooks each day to study the vocabulary words for the test.  Some are review, but some are brand new words. This also will be the last week of math practice before the math proficiency test.  Chapter 9 Test is on Tuesday.  Our trimester is winding down!

Red Ribbon and Character Counts Week is October 24th-28th.  There are themes for each day.  They are as follows:

Monday, October 24thSock It To Drugs Day – Students wear red, crazy or mismatched socks to show their commitment to being drug-free.  [Be careful not to wear too much red!]
Tuesday, October 25thI’m Crazy About Being Drug-Free – Students wear their hair in a crazy hair style.
Wednesday, October 26Stay in the Game, Be Drug-Free – Students wear clothing with a sports theme such as a jersey. No team hats will be allowed.
Thursday, October 27Drugs Turn You Inside Out – Students may wear one (1) article of clothing inside-out.
Friday, October 28Go Green, Don’t Let Drugs Pollute Your Life – Students wear clothing that is green.

There are drawings each day for participation and also a drawing on Friday for students who dressed up 4 out of the 5 days.

Mission Reports/Projects are due on Halloween, October 31st.  Please make sure your child gets started on this project as it will take multiple days to complete it.  These projects will be part of their grade for Social Studies in the 2nd trimester.  If you are planning to purchase a mission kit, I hear they are slim pickings.  You can try JoAnn's or Michael's in Modesto or Tracy for them.  You may want to look at purchasing online.  I found a website: https://owa.musd.net/owa/redir.aspx?C=2c95c0ed4af849009b95441b32980749&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.missionsofca.com%2f but they do not include any decor like trees or people.  Please allow time for shipping so that your project will be turned in on time.  Remember that plagiarism is not allowed.  Any report that includes plagiarism will receive a failing grade.
