Welcome Back!

Welcome to 4th grade and our classroom blog! Here you will be able to see all the spelling and vocabulary (only the key vocabulary words) lists for the whole year, just in case you forget your copy at school.  I also have put on here some helpful websites for you and your child.  I will be posting important information regularly and hope to post pictures of fun things we will be doing in the classroom.  Please be sure to get all the paperwork from your child and complete it as soon as possible so that we have the important information we need at school.  I am excited to start our year!

Last Week of School

Hello Families,

I am sad to say that the last week of school is upon us.  It has been wonderful getting to know and working with you all.  You are all considered part of my Woodward family and will continue to be through the years!  Thank you for all the memories you have allowed me to make with your children.  I wish you all the best of luck in the future and don't forget to visit me!

We have no homework for this last week, but here are some things that we will be doing during the week:

Making Dirt Cake (like the Gold Miners used to eat) on Monday

The Ports Game on Tuesday (Don't forget to wear your tye-dye shirts.)  A lunch is included in the price of their ticket:  a hot dog, chips and a drink.  I recommend not giving your child more than $20 spending money for the day.  We leave at 8:45 and return at 2:30.

Wednesday will be a rotation morning with the 4th grade classes to do cool activities with the other teachers and we will also have a teacher kickball game in the afternoon that the students can watch.

Thursday will be clean up/board game day.  Everything that belongs to your child should come home this day.

Friday, our last day, =( we will watch a movie and get out of school at 12:10.  Let's start the summer out right and have some fun!

It has been a pleasure,
Mrs. Day

Homework for the Week of April 16th

STAR testing is this week.  Make sure your child gets a good night's rest each night and has a well balanced breakfast.  Good breakfasts ideas for brain power include things like yogurt, eggs, bacon (a couple slices), toast, cereal WITHOUT lots of sugar, and fruit.  If the kids are running late, grab a peanut butter sandwich and some string cheese.  This will help with their scores!  Students MUST be on time to class as they will get locked out if they are not!

Spring pictures have gone home.  Please decide if you would like to keep them or not.  You can choose one sheet, or more than one, or none!  If you do not choose to keep the pictures, they must come back.  Also, the sheets you do not want to keep should come back when you return the money in.

There are no more stories in our reading book for the year.  It is hard to believe we have gotten to this point already!  We are going to be reading the story By the Great Horn Spoon.  A link for this book is in my favorites section.  Here you will find the vocabulary we will study and other useful information.

No homework for this week, except Monday!!! I do want students to take the practice STAR test that I sent home on Friday and have parents review it their answers.  They will have to return it on Tuesday as the only homework for the week.
