Homework for the Week of April 30th

Important Reminders:   Please remember these important reminders on homework and tests:  Summaries are paragraphs that include important things from their story.  They must not include opinions, such as I love this book.  Students take a vocabulary quiz once a week.  There are 20 words and they must know their definitions.  I recommend that the students take home their vocabulary notebooks nightly to study for their quiz.  Notebooks must come back to school the next day.  This week students will be reading By the Great Horn Spoon.  Chapter 25 Test Friday.  Progress reports will come home Wednesday.

Homework for the Week of April 16th

STAR testing is this week.  Make sure your child gets a good night's rest each night and has a well balanced breakfast.  Good breakfasts ideas for brain power include things like yogurt, eggs, bacon (a couple slices), toast, cereal WITHOUT lots of sugar, and fruit.  If the kids are running late, grab a peanut butter sandwich and some string cheese.  This will help with their scores!  Students MUST be on time to class as they will get locked out if they are not!

Spring pictures have gone home.  Please decide if you would like to keep them or not.  You can choose one sheet, or more than one, or none!  If you do not choose to keep the pictures, they must come back.  Also, the sheets you do not want to keep should come back when you return the money in.

There are no more stories in our reading book for the year.  It is hard to believe we have gotten to this point already!  We are going to be reading the story By the Great Horn Spoon.  A link for this book is in my favorites section.  Here you will find the vocabulary we will study and other useful information.

No homework for this week, except Monday!!! I do want students to take the practice STAR test that I sent home on Friday and have parents review it their answers.  They will have to return it on Tuesday as the only homework for the week.
