Homework for the Week of February 6th

Important Reminders There is no school on Friday!  This week we will be taking our math proficiency!!  Please remember these important reminders on homework and tests:  Summaries are paragraphs that include important things from their story.  They must not include opinions, such as I love this book.  Students take a vocabulary quiz once a week.  There are 20 words and they must know their definitions.  I recommend that the students take home their vocabulary notebooks nightly to study for their quiz.  Notebooks must come back to school the next day.  Our story this week is Happy Birthday, Dr. King.  Progress reports come home on Monday.

Your child will be a published author!!  Forms were sent home to purchase a book that your child will write this year.  Each student gets their own book filled with their own poems.  The first book is free.  Any other reprints of their book require you to purchase them.  Please fill out the information, but know that it must be turned in by March 27th.

Monday:  Do a fluency read for one minute aloud, read from a book of your choice for 15 minutes then write a 5 (or more if you choose) sentence summary about what you read, complete the math page for Chapter 17 Lesson 3, and write all 25 spelling words 3 times each.

Tuesday:  Do a fluency read for one minute aloud, read from a book of your choice for 15 minutes then write a 5 (or more if you choose) sentence summary about what you read, complete the math page for Chapter 17 Lesson 4, and write all 25 spelling words in alphabetical order.

Wednesday:  Do a fluency read for one minute aloud, read from a book of your choice for 15 minutes then write a 5 (or more if you choose) sentence summary about what you read, complete the math page for Chapter 18 Lesson 1 and study for the spelling and vocabulary test tomorrow!

*Papers that should be turned in on Thursday are:  all reading log pages, the fluency paper, and the homework from Wednesday night.

Have a great week!
