Homework for the Week of September 12th

Hello Families,

This week is MUTA testing week.  Students will be tested on comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills.  We will be using By the Shores of Silver Lake spelling words for their spelling test this week because of Spell-a-thon last week.  Spell-a-thon donations are due on Friday!!

A reminder on a book summary:  the writer's job is to tell the important parts of the story they read in a paragraph.  It is not a list of things.  Sentences should not include opinions like "I like this book." or "Nothing really happened."

Here is the homework for this week:

Monday:  Do a fluency read for 1 minute with an adult and mark on fluency paper, read from a book of your choice for 15 minutes then write a 5 (or more if you choose) sentence summary about what you read, complete the math page for Chapter 3 Lesson 5, and write all 25 spelling words 3 times each.

Tuesday:  Do a fluency read for 1 minute with an adult and mark on fluency paper, read from a book of your choice for 15 minutes then write a 5 (or more if you choose) sentence summary about what you read, complete the reading comprehension page, and write all 25 spelling word in a sentence (please underline the spelling word).

Wednesday:  Do a fluency read for 1 minute with an adult and mark on fluency paper, read from a book of your choice for 15 minutes then write a 5 (or more if you choose) sentence summary about what you read, complete the math page for Chapter 4 Lesson 1, and write all 25 spelling words in alphabetical order.

Thursday:  Do a fluency read for 1 minute with an adult and mark on fluency paper, read from a book of your choice for 15 minutes then write a 5 (or more if you choose) sentence summary about what you read, complete the math page for Chapter 4 Lesson 2, and study for the spelling test tomorrow!

*Papers that should be turned in on Friday are:  all reading log pages, the fluency paper, and the homework from Thursday night.

Have a great week!
